HELLO SCANNER!

My nail was chewed up in my suitcase zipper while stuck in the airport on a recent trip home.
I SCANNED THIS!

it’s BACK man.

Scanners have been a real microcosm of technology for me. Until last year, I was using a “Scanjet 200″ (or something along those lines) straight out of 1994 which was eventually forced into retirement because it used a freaking PARALLEL PORT to connect. It took at least 2 minutes solid to preview a page, and you may as well have set up camp and grabbed a beverage if you wanted to scan at a higher DPI.
Then, christmas of 2006, I received my new lovely CanoScan LiDE 600F. It’s fast, it’s awesome, and it scans like the wind. I <3 it. Oh, and to set it up today all I did was plug in my USB cord. Props to both Canon and Apple for that, I suppose.
It’s nice that now, in the future, I can use that time I used to be spending waiting for the scan to finish to write sycophantic technology blog posts. :)
